ASUS ROG SWIFT PG258Q 240 Hz Gaming Monitor
About This 240Hz Monitor
This 24.5 “ monitor is definitely one of the best on the market. It’s light, flexible, has good height adjustment and has a good range of motion.
If you’re that type of gamer who makes adjustments to your setup all the time, this should be on your priority list.
It has a full HD (1920x1080p) 1ms panel that is ideal for any gamer. It’s video G-sync technology allows for reduced screen tearing (so you can’t blame your team anymore by saying ‘lag!’)
It’s performance is what makes the ASUS ROG SWIFT shine. As soon as you get the monitor you will find how easy it is to use the monitor interface.
It manages to play – even the most hardware demanding games – incredibly smoothly, so you won’t need to worry if it manages to do what it says on the tin.
Personally, I love the basic but delicate look of the monitor. Unlike many gaming monitors, it doesn’t look childish.I’ve found it to still remain sturdy yet look elegant at the same time, which makes it quite a unique and enjoyable monitor to look upon.
The only downside that we could find about this is that it is considered to be one of the more expensive 240HZ monitors – coming in at a price of about $559.00.
Even though it is considered ‘pricey,’ I’d recommend this to you if you seriously want to engage in gaming.
There is a reason why some of the best League of Legends e-sports players such as FAKER would recommend this monitor, it was made with the sole purpose of creating a dynamic, excellent and sleek looking monitor, and the ASUS ROG SWIFT falls right into that category.
Looking at the ASUS 240HZ monitor as i’m typing this article absolutely makes me wonder why I haven’t got one yet. All I can say is look into it for yourself, there’s a reason it’s in our top five.
Dell 210-AMOP 240HZ Monitor Reviews
About This 240Hz Monitor
Dell also wanted a piece of the action and decided to make their own version of the best 240HZ monitor.
The Dell 210-AMOP- comes in a bit heavier than its ASUS competitor, but its price falls down to a budget $381.00.
Not only is it pretty cheap for what it’s offering, Dell has spent a lot of their focus on the colors and presets offered on the monitor – meaning you get to see vibrant and beautiful images on screen for a great price.
It’s also 24.5 “ which is not bad as gaming monitors go. It offers reduced screen tearing and just like the ASUS SWIFT, it manages to play any game available smoothly and clearly.
This monitor has been tried and tested this monitor to see if it can handle taxing games, so believe me, it’s reliable. It’s been tested against taxing games like the Witcher 3 (which it ran at 144 fps with no screen tearing!) and it passed the test with flying colors.
I don’t find it looks as appealing as the ASUS SWIFT, but I would still say that it should look reasonable for its bargain price.
Its range of movement and viewing angles are still superb, so you won’t have trouble if you’re in quite a small space and need to move the monitor around a lot.
As a word of note if you are looking into buying this 240HZ monitor: Don’t worry about getting G-sync over Free-sync here, as you’re still unlikely to get any screen tearing despite what you have.
To put it simply, this is a reliable budget 240HZ monitor that has vivid and colorful images to enhance your gaming experience, not to mention your next netflix binge watch.
ASUS ROG STRIX240hz Monitor
About This 240Hz Monitor
Next on our list of the best 240HZ monitors out there, is the ASUS ROG SWIFT’s budget brother, the ASUS ROG Strix.
This monitor is very similar to the ASUS SWIFT in several ways:
- It has the same sleek, angular design that creates an intense yet exciting atmosphere for gaming.
- This 240HZ monitor has a great range of motion with good viewing angles, allowing for a variety of different setups.
- It is a 24.5” Full HD 1ms monitor that can perform well whatever the game you play on.
- Just like the ASUS SWIFT, it has ASUS eye care technology, which reduced the impact of blue light on our eyes – making marathons easy to cope with.
If you’re coming from a 60HZ monitor, this budget 240HZ monitor will seem alien to you. It has absolutely fantastic image quality and accurately represents what it means to be the best 240HZ monitor.
However, don’t be completely fooled, even though it sounds like its older brother the ASUS SWIFT, it does have it own cons.
Dead pixels seem to appear more frequently on this 240HZ monitor than the ASUS SWIFT, which would be quite disappointing despite the fact that it’s still a large investment.
Even if you don’t necessarily want to have a 24.5” monitor due to it being not as large as you want it, ASUS provides sizes up to 35”! The larger the size, however, the chances are it will be 144HZ not 240HZ.
On the whole, I think this is an excellent budget 240HZ monitor. The majority of its features are identical to the ASUS SWIFT, yet it comes at a better price!
BenQ Zowie 240HZ Monitor Reviews
About This 240Hz Monitor
Fourth on our list is nothing else but the BenQ Zowie 240HZ monitor. This 240HZ monitor is an impressive beast that is commonly used in esports-level-gaming
I’m sure as you looked at the image of the BenQ Zowie, you noticed its unique set of side flaps. These are perfect for hardcore gamers, as blocking of distractions around you (or your partner in my case) is crucial to making those game-changing plays.
Apart from its attractive looks, the BenQ Zowie comes out at about $449.00, a hefty but understandable price for a machine that makes even the dullest games look alive.
The BenQ Zowie has given us the gift of having black equalizer technology. This black equalizer technology helps brighten dark scenes (making them far more vibrant) whilst not overexposing lighter areas.
So if you’re watching an incredibly dark film like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, you will finally be able to enjoy every little detail that the film provides, without having the brighter display ruin your experience.
The BenQ Zowie has personalized viewing angles, giving you that flexibility that you need to relax and enjoy the monitor from wherever you’re sitting in the room.
There are however some downsides to this monitor specifically. There can sometimes be levels of pixel inversion when forcing a lower level of HZ to a higher level. This makes games like CS:GO somewhat irritating to play on.
I also think that though the side flaps are an amazing feature, the monitor itself isn’t that attractive compared to some ASUS 240HZ monitors.
It lacks angular design, and when seen from the sides, the side flaps make the monitor look like a very chunky, which in my opinion, isn’t as appealing as more petite monitor designs.
It’s one of the best 240HZ monitors out there, but in the end it comes to personal choice, so if you like the idea of blocking out your wife’s constant moaning, this is certainly the choice for you!
Acer Predator XB272 240hz Gaming Monitor Reviews
About This 240Hz Monitor
Perhaps the coolest name for a monitor that I’ve ever heard, Acer’s attempt on creating the best 240HZ monitor around – the Acer Predator- is definitely not a monitor you want to ignore.
The Acer Predator has an original price of $599.00 – but please don’t let that frighten you.
Being more expensive, Acer has given the Acer Predator some added benefits.
Firstly, the Acer predator is the only 240HZ monitor on here that isn’t limited by 24.5”. This monitor is a great 27”, the only 240HZ monitor on this list that we can call ‘big’
The Acer predator uses NVIDIA G-sync technology that synchronizes with your GPU to remove screen tearing and makes games look sharp and smooth.
EyeProtect’s Flicker lens allows you to game for as long as you like without causing any permanent damage.
Acer has also implemented a PredatorGameViewing technology that gives you the opportunity to change color schemes and adjust aiming points to make you more accurate on precision-based games.
However, there have been a number of complaints regarding the Acer predator.
Many people who have bought this monitor have realised that about 1-2 months after ownership, the occurrence of dead pixels is overwhelming.
That doesn’t mean you should dismiss it completely. I’d suggest that if you do want to get the Acer predator, make sure you get it from a reliable source, as there have been quite a few fraudulent attempts to create the Acer Predator.
All in All, this is certainly a great 240HZ monitor, but it can be quite expensive. If you want to look into it more, look at this product review to help you out with your decision making. (click here).
If I Were You, I’d Choose The Dell 210-AMOP – And Here’s Why
It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing 240HZ monitor that we’ve shown you, but there are clear cut reasons why I’d choose the Dell monitor:
- It is the cheapest monitor out of the 5 we’ve picked out, yet it still provides most of the features a good budget 240HZ monitor should provide.
- Dell has focused on image quality quite a lot for this monitor. Even though it is very cheap, It provides some of the best, vivid color systems you can find on any 250HZ monitor.
- Lastly, it is definitely the most reliable 240HZ monitor here. Almost everyone who has tried out the Dell monitor hasn’t complained about dead pixels or pixel inversion.
Buying Guide Time: How to Choose The Best 240HZ Monitor
does 240HZ mean?If you’ve gotten this far, well done!
So you might be impressed with what a 240HZ monitor can do, but I’m sure this question has bothered you – What does 240HZ mean?
240HZ is a reference to the refresh rate of a monitor – meaning how many times per second a display can refresh its image.
For those of you wondering, no, refresh rate isn’t exactly the same as frame rate.
As simply as I can put it, the refresh rate is simply a property of the monitor, whilst a frame rate is a property of the information that gets sent to the monitor.
Improving the refresh rate manages to influence different aspects/ features of monitors.
An improved refresh rate has the ability to
- Reduce screen tearing
- Improve motion resolution
- Improve responsiveness in gaming
Can your GPU handle it?
If you want to get the most out of your 240HZ monitor, you’ll likely want it to reach 240 fps whilst in gaming.
That itself is an understandable want, as you’ve just payed a good amount of money for get that dream of 240 fps – but tread carefully.
The more pixels on your screen at any one time, the more powerful your GPU card need to be, or it will overheat and underperform.
Fortunately, all 240HZ monitors don’t go past a resolution of 1080p, so you don’t need to have the best GPU on the market, like a GTX 1070.
Integrated GPUs will still be too slow for 1080p, so you do need to make an investment in your part if you want the GPU to handle increased frame rates.
From what I’ve found, many modern GPUs can handle the stress that a 240HZ monitor will create, but the best seem to be cards like AMD’s Radeon R28ox and the NVIDIA GTX 770.
As a side not, there is more of a strain on CPU technology than GPU. If you are playing a game like CS:GO on your 240HZ monitor, and struggle to reach that 240 fps you’ve been dying for, it may not be your GPU.
It’s more likely that your CPU is bottlenecked rather than a weak performing GPU – So please don’t waste $400 on a GPU that won’t make your gaming experience better!
Can you afford it and is it worth it?
To buy the best 240HZ monitor is a large investment, and whether it is worth it or not can depend on the person buying it.
Most 240HZ monitors are between the range of $300-$600. These monitors will also require a GPU that can handle the stress of these monitors, so that will also possibly add to the cost by $250-$500.
So if you’re paying about $550-$1100 for a 240 fps setup, you will want to make sure that it is worth it.
If you’re sitting in front of a 60HZ monitor, a transition from that to 240HZ will definitely blow your mind, but is there an alternative?
You see, the human eye can notice differences between 0 fps and 140 fps, but as we reach higher numbers, the chances are that you won’t be able to identify any change whatsoever.
Only if you’re a serious gamer or someone with excellent and abnormal eyesight, u might see a difference between a 144HZ monitor and a 240HZ monitor.
So, in reality, it’s completely dependant on you. If you are coming from a 60HZ monitor, then 240HZ will be a dream come true, if you’re coming from a 144HZ monitor, then I don’t think you should invest $300+ for the little change that you might see.
Can a 240HZ monitor boost your gaming experience?
I’m going to say that it does, and yet it doesn’t.
Sure, you’re not going to experience any lag, you’re going to be able to see every detail even in the most intense moments, you’ll even see bright, vivid images – but – many other monitors can do exactly this, with better resolution.
Because a 240HZ monitor is limited by its 1920x1080p resolution, you won’t get as beautiful an image from a 240HZ monitor if we compare it to a 144HZ monitor with better resolution.
A 144HZ monitor almost eradicates any lag anyway, so we can’t just credit the 240H monitor for that function.
So even though it does have some benefits, it’s not like you can’t find those benefits anywhere else , and for a cheaper price!
Choosing a Good Value 240HZ Monitor? It’s your turn now
We’ve given you the details, so now it’s time for you to decide which 240HZ monitor is right for you.
If you want a relatively cheap yet reliable 240HZ monitor, then I’ve already recommended the Dell 210 AMOP.
If you’re looking to get an aesthetically pleasing monitor, then either of the ASUS monitors should do your dreams justice.
If you want to show of your money to the rest of the world, whilst still getting your value for money, the Acer predator is the monitor of your choice,
And finally, if you’re like me, that person that wants to block of their partner, the Benq Zowie will do just fine.
